How to treat in Qatar: lightning "ambulance" and fantastic attitude towards patients

As for the examination of patients, it happens that the doctor may be a man in the women's corps. But such a doctor still does not touch the woman (protecting women and respect for it above all). For example, if a woman came to a man's therapist, he will ask the complaint, will add a recipe and will finish the reception.

In Ukraine, there are now rapid discussions about the future of medical reform, which has both hot supporters and categorical opponents. But everyone agrees that we must follow the examples of developed countries here. As in practice, the medicine is the desired medicine – they tell Ukrainians who live abroad and know about it not at all.

I live in Qatar for more than a year, and has already managed to get acquainted with local medicine. A couple of months after moving, I jumped the temperature to 38 and, realizing that I myself could not cope with, I decided to go to the doctor. Sign up to the reception you can arrive personally in the hospital or online mode. I chose the first option because I was bad and forces to deal with the online system, there was no. True, in any case, the reception occurs in the order of a living queue. I note that I went to the State Hospital, here, here "Hamad".

At first I was registered in the computer system as a patient: the date and time of arrival were recorded, the number was assigned the number and hung on the "Label" hand with this information. Then measured the temperature and pressure, weight, complaints noted and sent to the chair to enjoy how it turned out to be 5-hour expectation. But I spent not sitting on a solid hospital chair, as used to Ukraine, but on a soft chair, with air conditioning and a machine with snacks: chocolates, water, milk and packaged juice (prices are not overpriced).

After 5 o'clock, I was called me, the name, surname and other with the data of my ID card (a document certifying the person, for foreigners – without it will not be accepted you under any circumstances, even "ambulance" will not be sent) and led along a long corridor To the doctor's duty. What surprised, there is a special position for a person who accompanies patients from the reception to the doctor's office. There is also a branch where you can go and exit only with this employee on his service pass.

In Hamad, doctors are very indulgent: they can write 1-2 days of the hospital, if you ask. And it is surprising, as Qatar is a country where labor is almost erected to the cult. Most people here work 6 days a week for 10+ hours. If you pick up the influenza, the Qatarist, unlike the Ukrainian, will not write two weeks of the hospital for anything. At such moments, of course, you begin to remember the domestic medicine with nostalgia, because 1-2 days after temperature 40 people just do not have time.Kak_lechat_v_katare_molnienosnaya; _skorya; _i_fantasticheskoe_otnoshenie_k_patsientam _-_ zdorove_i_sp

Most people here work 6 days a week for 10+ hours. If you pick up the influenza, the Qatarist, unlike the Ukrainian, will not write two weeks of the hospital for anything. At such moments, of course, you begin to remember the domestic medicine with nostalgia, because 1-2 days after temperature 40 people just do not have time. And you have to run to work exhausted and dehydrated, while not forgetting to smile at all 32, because in Qatar it is customary to be polite and courteous – this is another local cult.

There are also private clinics in Qatar. Depending on your wishes and possibilities, you can contact any. But the amount of money and time that you spend in a private and public clinic will differ significantly.

In the case of the same flu, if you come to "Hamad" for an "ambulance" appointment, on a first-come, first-served basis, the therapist will examine you for free (more precisely, the examination will be covered by insurance, but more on insurance later), but you will have to stand in line from 5 to 10 hours – as I found out later, I was still lucky with 5 hours of waiting. To get to a narrow specialist, you will have to wait 2-3 months, or even more.

You can get to a private doctor at least the next day, well, in a week – a maximum. That's just an examination by a therapist will cost from 200 to 300 rials (from 1430 to 2150 UAH). Remark: most salaries in Qatar start at $ 1000 (except for working specialties, salaries are lower there). There will also be no queues for a narrow specialist in a private clinic. But the cost of admission will not please. An initial examination by a dentist will cost from 100 to 600 rials; gynecologist – 150-500 rials, pediatrician – 150-500 rials (that is, from 716 to 4300 UAH).

To get to a narrow specialist in a public hospital, you will have to wait 2-3 months, or even more

At the same time, all firms and companies accept sick leaves only from public hospitals. If you bring it from a private clinic, the sick leave will not be credited and absenteeism will be put. Sick leave is paid by the employer (but not more than 14 days a year, under the contract). The sick leave must be entered into the online system – both the hospital and the Ministry of Health, as well as the employing company, will have access to it. Thus, your management and the doctor's management will be able to check all the information they are interested in about your health, how often you get sick, than what the doctor prescribed.

After the visit, the doctor discharges medicines, and with this list go to the pharmacy. At the pharmacy at Hamad and its units with Healthy Card – a state insurance card – medicines can be bought 5-6 times cheaper than in a pharmacy outside the hospital.

What will be your insurance, completely depends on your employer. You can get already mentioned state insurance, Healthy Card. Some firms open it automatically for each employee, paying every year for 100 rials for renewal.

You can get insurance and in a private insurance company – independently either through the employer (most often the more "steep" international companies). At the same time, complete private insurance, which will cover all your medical expenses, provide a few employers and, depending on your profession. For example, a cleaner will receive full paid state insurance, and the doctor, physiotherapist or coach of the football team will receive full paid private insurance.

Insurance covers any treatment, except cosmetology, will also be a limit and campaigns to Dentistist. The limit of private insurance will depend on your profession – it will be from 10,000 to 15,000 rial per year (from 71,697 to 107,546 UAH). If the employee is injured during working hours, insurance covers 100% of medical care. Sometimes, in cases of expensive complex operation, you will need to pay a small amount: 1-2% of the cost of the operation.

There are no differences between public and private hospitals – you will be equally friendly and will assist at the highest level. With private insurance, you can walk in Hamad, but so few people do, because they do not like anywhere anywhere, and Qatar is no exception.

"Ambulance" in the country is really an ambulance: the car arrives at any address very quickly, in just 5-10 minutes. In Doha, the capital of Qatar, a large number of ambulances, which are distributed throughout the districts. In addition, in the case of "traffic jams" on the roads or critical state of the patient, ambulance helicopters are provided.

The challenge "ambulance" is absolutely free, but will deliver you to the overall branch of Hamada, in the separation of which you will wait for your turn to inspect the therapist again from 5 to 10 hours. He either prescribe treatment, or give direction to a narrower specialist.

However, an important nuance – all this concerns only foreigners, which in Qatar a lot. For the katarians there is a separate entry (entrance) to the hospital. Regardless of their profession and insurance, in no case they will not sit in the queues, the help will be instantly, and the attitude will be the best. In general, the level of welfare of the local such is that almost all positions in the country, from the manager, the doctor, the developer and to the cleaner are presented by foreigners. Qataris is mainly leading a family business or go to the public service.

For foreigners, the entrance is separate. At the same time, this entry is also divided into two parts: for more "important" visitors who are, in particular, American citizens and British subjects, and all others. Therefore, when calling "ambulance", you will definitely check the ID-passport, where profession and nationality are indicated. But this does not mean that because of your nationality, citizenship or profession, the doctor will allow themselves to treat you disrespectful, inattentively or negligently – such in Qatar simply cannot be.

It does not matter and the patient's religion is a Muslim or not, it will absolutely not affect the attitude towards you. But it matters the floor. In all hospitals, men and women are accepted separately, at least local, even aliens. Of course, you can meet a man's guard, but at the same time he will never enter the women's office (it will stand in the hallway or at the exit).
