From the publisher

The name of this monograph corresponds to the name of the subspecialty, which in the USA is called FPMRS – Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. This specialization implies the synthesis of female urology, urogynecology, neurourology and urodynamics, algology and reconstructive surgery of the urogenital area in women, which is urgently needed in clinical practice.

The monograph contains a wide array of data on everything related to urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, urogenital fistulas, neurophysiology of the lower urinary tract, neurourology and urodynamics, lower urinary tract infections in women.

From the author of Women's Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery:

The name of this monograph corresponds to the name of the subspecialty, which in the USA is called FPMRS – Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. There is also a corresponding journal of the American Urogynecological Association. This direction is very popular and in demand. The so-called fellowship – a postgraduate course lasting 2-3 years, following the completion of residency (residency) in urology or gynecology and allowing you to work in this area at a high level – is held in leading research and clinical centers in the United States. At the same time, the competition for admission is one of the highest.

The allocation of such specialization, in my opinion, was a very good idea, since it implies the synthesis of female urology, urogynecology, neurourology and urodynamics, algology and reconstructive surgery of the urogenital region in women, which is urgently needed in clinical practice. None of these areas can be fully "in itself" effective and safe. Even the notorious “multidisciplinary team of doctors” does not always help here. To solve complex problems, it is precisely "synthetic" specialists with the widest possible outlook in a particular area that are needed.

You are holding in your hands the first edition of our monograph. It contains a wide array of data on everything related to urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, urogenital fistulas, lower urinary tract neurophysiology, neurourology and urodynamics, and lower urinary tract infections in women. Of course, this is not all that should be the subject of competence of specialists in female pelvic medicine. In this book, we have not touched on the problem of chronic pelvic pain syndrome, female urethral surgery, "gestational" urology, and some other problems. This will be the subject of subsequent editions. But even without the listed topics, a rather voluminous and informative work turned out, which, we very much hope, will be a useful help in mastering such an important area of medicine.
