Marsh cinquefoil tincture for healthy joints

It is called Russian ginseng, the gold of swamps. A plant that herbalists have long used as a whole (from flowers to roots) to treat a variety of diseases. One of its many names – joint – speaks for itself. Tincture from the roots of the marsh cinquefoil helps with arthrosis and arthritis, osteochondrosis.

In ancient recipes, it is mentioned as a remedy for typhus and even plague. Whether he helped or not – now it’s impossible to find out)) But the tincture helps the joints. Parents have been preparing it not for the first year, but for at least ten years. In winter, when physical activity is not as high as in spring and summer, it's time to support your body with natural means.

marsh cinquefoil

The name of the plant speaks for itself. The cinquefoil grows in swamps, so certain difficulties are associated with the procurement of raw materials. For example, I categorically do not go further than 2-3 meters from land. Somehow it’s scary, everything is shaking underfoot, pulsing, the swamp, although old, but just like a living thing. And all the time it seems that now it will open up and swallow you. And you need to not only walk on it, but also tear out the plant with roots … In general, it’s creepy.

Sabelnik grows throughout Russia. It has a characteristic creeping long rhizome, which is covered with many short hairs. The shoots rise slightly above the surface, they have characteristic pinnate leaves. In my opinion, they are somewhat reminiscent of mountain ash.

If you're lucky, you can catch the flowering period. Very pretty flowers, reminiscent of stars and painted in dark red.

Of the many useful properties of marsh cinquefoil, it is most often anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and analgesic. According to some reports, it also has antitumor activity. In countries such as Japan, Korea, China and Mongolia, it is recognized as official medicine. However, in our pharmacies you can also find various creams made on the basis of cinquefoil.

We prepare raw materials

For medicinal purposes, the whole plant is used, but the rhizome is most valued. The most favorable time for harvesting is the second half of summer. In the photo, rhizomes, only pulled out of the swamp.

After collecting the rhizomes, it is necessary to properly wash, remove dry leaves, shoots.

This is how washed, peeled and slightly dried rhizomes look like (5-7 days in a well-ventilated dry room). You can use them in this form, but it is better to crumble into small pieces (4-5 cm).

Preparation of tincture and ointment

To prepare an alcohol tincture, pour 100 g of raw materials with 1 liter of vodka. You need to insist for 40 days, tightly closing the bottle (or jar), in a dark place. Then squeeze the raw material, and strain the tincture. It turns out a beautiful amber or cognac color.

You need to drink 1 tablespoon 3-5 times a day an hour before meals. In one of the sources there was information that the daily dose can be consumed in one dose. It's much more convenient. The duration of treatment is 1 month, and then you need to take a break.

With mastopathy and arthritis, the joint intake of such a tincture and ointment is very helpful. To prepare an ointment you need to heat olive or sunflower oil (100 ml) to +60. + 70ºC and fill them with cinquefoil. Pull the neck of the jar with gauze folded in several layers and tie it with a rope. You need to insist on the sun for a month. You will also need natural wax (from foundation). A month later, the raw material must be squeezed out, and the oil must be filtered. Then melt the wax (30 g) and combine it with butter, mix and cool, constantly shaking, so that the consistency becomes homogeneous. The finished ointment is best decomposed into small jars so that it is convenient to use.
