“Dear friends, today we have chosen the most emotionally bright place – the perinatal center, because a new life is born here with your help. And medicine is an activity that causes universal respect. You really accomplished a feat – all doctors. And on your face, we would like to congratulate all the women of the republic.”

The head of the republic noted that thanks to the introduction of modern medical equipment and, most importantly, the well-coordinated work of the medical specialists of the center, it was possible to significantly reduce the level of infant mortality. The Republic of Karelia currently ranks 7th in Russia in this indicator, along with the Moscow and Leningrad regions (mortality is 3.7 per 1,000 births).
The Republican Perinatal Center opened in 2018. Its main task is to reduce maternal and infant mortality through the provision of professional medical care and the introduction of modern technologies and methods for accompanying patients.
