From January 1, 2006, the Faculty of Advanced Studies and Professional Retraining of Specialists of the Voronezh State Medical Academy. N.N. Burdenko was reorganized to the Institute of Additional Vocational Education (IDPO) of WGMA. N.N. Burdenko – now VGMU. N.N. Burdenko.

The Institute of Additional Professional Education was created with the goal:

1. Providing a health care system and educational medical institutions by qualified specialists of the Voronezh region and other regions of the Russian Federation.

2. Receiving knowledge specialists about the latest achievements in the field of medicine, health care, medical law, ethics and deontology issues, advanced domestic and foreign experience, professional improvement to perform new types of medical activities, cultural and moral development.

3. Organization and implementation of advanced training and professional retraining of medical institutions, enterprises and organizations, as well as civil servants, released medical and pharmaceutical workers, unemployed population and unemployed specialists.

Training listeners in IDPO is carried out on a budget and commercial basis.
