The method was developed by the American otorinolaryngologist Arthur Walter Peretz at the beginning of the 20th century, in the commoner, this method is called "Cuckoo".

What is "Cuckoo"?

This washing the nose, in which a negative pressure is created in the cavity of the nose, due to which the PNI comes from the incomplete sinuses. For washing, solutions with antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-edema preparations are used.

What does it look like? The patient lies on the back with a trapped head at an angle of 45gr. In one half of the nose, a medicinal solution is introduced, from the other half of the nose, it is sucked by a special electromechanical suction. In this case, the patient breathes his mouth and constantly says "ku-ku". Hence the people's name of the method – "Cuckoo". Why say "ku-ku"? When a person pronounces these syllables, the soft sky rises up and seals, closes the nasophal. Due to this, and due to the operation of the electromechanical suction, the negative pressure of the nasal cavity and the pus comes out of the sinuses.

For the successful application of the "method of moving" holes between the nasal cavity and the incomplete sinuses (fat) must be passed for the fluid, for this before the washing procedure, a anemization of the nasal mucosa is performed, that is, instillation into the nose of vasoconstrictor drugs (for example, osivin, xylene).

This procedure is shown to people with such diseases as:

  • Acute or chronic adenoite (adenoid hypertrophy)
  • Chronic rhinitis
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Acute or chronic sinusitis.

In most cases, during this procedure, painful punctures can be avoided, that is, punctures of the maxillary sinuses.

This procedure can be held with children from 2-3 years and even pregnant women. The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia. But to achieve the effect you need a course of 5-10 washing.

Please note that this procedure exists contraindications:

  • epilepsy
  • Regular nose bleeding.

If this procedure is incorrectly due to infection in Eustachiyev, the pipes (channel connecting the average ear with a throat) together with the solution such complications as otitis can develop. Therefore, this procedure should be carried out by an experienced ENT doctor, not the younger medical personnel. With proper treatment, complications happen extremely rarely and recovery occurs in 5-7 days.
