Controlled stimulation (induction) of ovulation (CIO)
Method of treatment of anovulatory form of female infertility.
1. An indication for CIO is the absence of one's ovulation in the natural cycle, which is confirmed by ultrasound.
2. Mandatory conditions for conducting CRO are the following factors:
- preserved patency of the fallopian tubes in a woman;
- normal indicators of the spermogram of the partner;
- problems from the uterine cavity, endometrium are excluded;
- absence of violations (or their correction) of the hormonal background.
A relative contraindication is age over 38 years.
3. Before carrying out the KIO, it is necessary to undergo an examination according to the recommendations of the attending doctor, as well as an assessment of the woman's ovarian reserve. After that, in the presence of all conditions, ovulation stimulation is prescribed exclusively by the doctor, selected individually.
4. All drugs for stimulation are hormonal, they differ from each other in the type of hormone on the basis of which they are created. There are 2 groups of drugs: antiestrogens (tablet forms) and gonadotropins (injectable form).
5. Stimulation of ovulation begins on the 2nd-5th day of the menstrual cycle (in the absence of contraindications according to ultrasound, for example, a functional ovarian cyst, the absence of complete rejection of the endometrium). Obligatory ultrasound monitoring during the CIO. When the dominant follicle reaches a size of 18-21 mm, the issue of staging an hCG injection (“trigger” of ovulation) is decided in order to create conditions for rupture of the follicle and the origin of ovulation itself. Further, together with the doctor, the issue of “optimal” conditions (including the day) for sexual intercourse with a partner is resolved.
