St. Petersburg University visited the Consul General of the state of Israel in St. Petersburg Uri Reznik. During the meeting, issues of the development of interuniversity cooperation in the field of medicine and culture, as well as strengthening academic exchanges were raised.

She said that SPbSU represents a wide palette of educational and scientific trends – ranging from humanitarian and public sciences and ending with such as broadcast biomedicine or, for example, new materials with new functional properties. In this regard, cooperation with Israeli universities in the coming years will be able to develop even more intensively. Currently, SPbSU partners are five universities in Israel, including the University of Jewish University of Jerusalem and Ariel University, and the most popular areas of joint research – medicine, physics, astronomy, mathematics and earth science.
"A distinctive feature of the University of St. Petersburg is a modern infrastructure for the implementation of interdisciplinary programs and scientific and technological projects. It was in St. Petersburg State University in 2011 a project was implemented to create a largest scientific park in Russia. More than 150 studies on orders for employees and partners of the University, Anastasia Yarmosh told Anastasia Yarmosh. – Today, the St. Petersburg State University, together with St. Petersburg, implements the project "Development Territory" and the innovative scientific and technological center "Nevskaya Delta", where new educational and laboratory corps and an innovative technological center will be deployed. The Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Partnership also noted that Historically, SPbSU's cooperation with Israeli universities began to develop from historical and cultural projects, and today the medical direction comes to the fore.So, in the fall of 2021, the world's first center for the study of autoimmune diseases and the consequences of a new coronavirus infection, created with the participation of President Ariel University of Yehuda Schenfeld, opened at the University.
The Consul General of Israel reported that he pays great attention to strengthening the interaction between universities and considers it important to be the steps that he proposes to take SPSU in this field. He noted that it was also interested in the development of cooperation between educational organizations with an industrial sphere, which in Israel is still not active, therefore he was glad to hear that the university interacts with the business, and the work of the Scientific Park is a confirmation.
During the meeting, Anastasia Yarmosh made suggestions aimed at improving interuniversity cooperation. She said that at present, academic exchange with Israeli universities occurs intensively and to change this situation will allow the Agreement with the Ministry of Education of Israel. Such contracts allow us to increase in universities the number of programs for double diplomas models, and also discover the opportunity for students to participate in mobility programs. Also, a vice-rector for strategic development and partnership clarified whether there is currently the opportunity to invite teachers of Israeli universities in St. Petersburg State University, ready to make a lecture before the universal. According to the Consul General, in the situation of coronavirus restrictions, it is not easy to plan foreign trips, so he made an initiative to personally read for students learning management and international relations, several lectures on the use of game theory. Uri Reznik said that he could send a program program that he reads in Israel's universities so that university teachers could determine which educational program he corresponds to. Anastasia Yarmosh replied that he would gladly take the offer of a diplomat and for students would be a great honor to visit the speech of an expert with such competencies and professional experience.

Online courses can become a tool for their popularization.” The Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Partnership noted that St Petersburg University is one of the world leaders in the field of online education and suggested developing a joint course on Israeli history and culture in Hebrew, English or Russian. Many universities and educational organizations use the online courses of the University, which, according to her, will successfully promote the study of Jewish culture and related areas in Russia. The Consul General supported the proposal and said that online education is actively developing in Israel, so the initiative of the University's specialists will find a response among Israeli colleagues.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to send detailed materials of the meeting and information on each of the discussed proposals to the consulate. “Let's hope that the cooperation between the universities of Israel and St Petersburg University, which was established by our predecessors in the past years, will continue,” concluded Anastasia Yarmosh.
