Cleanliness in the Quran and Hadith
Islam attaches special importance to personal purity – Taharat. In the Taharat dictionary means "get rid of dirt and stay away from unclean." In the terminological value, Taharat is cleansing from spiritual grind (Hadas) and material evil spirits (Najas), which prevent the namaz. Body purity
Islam considers personal cleanness with one of the conditions of faith. Physical and spiritual purity is also a condition for making praying to the Most High. According to the same scientist, up to 200 million of these microbes are neutralized during one bath. But microbes are constantly multiplying, and it is necessary to reduce their number. How beautifully the Prophet (peace be upon him) spoke about this: “Every Muslim is obliged to bathe and wash his hair at least once a week” (Bukhari, Juma 12; Muslim, Juma 9).
Islam also commands a Muslim to brush his teeth and get rid of food leftovers between the teeth. On this occasion, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Two angels, who are to the right and left of a person, record all his deeds and never leave him. They are most indignant when the person whose deeds they are instructed to write down, stands for prayer without first removing the remnants of food between the teeth ”(Suyuti, 85).
As you know, mazmaza, which is a thorough rinsing of the mouth during abdest, protects the oral cavity, pharynx and gums from inflammation, and teeth from caries. Dr. Mustafa Saeed as-Suyuti in his book “Mu’jizatu fit-tibbi lin-nabiyil-arabi Muhammad (s.a.s.)” citing an excerpt from Dr. Garzuzi’s book “Wikayatul-asnan wa sykhkhatul-abdan” says: “Ninety percent of people lose their teeth. And from there, mixing with blood, they spread throughout the body and become the cause of various diseases.
Therefore, Islam prescribes the use of miswak. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) says: “Use a miswak, because a miswak cleans your teeth and gives you a chance to earn the pleasure of Allah” (Ibn Maja, Taharat 7); “How good is the miswak of the wholesome olive tree. With its help, the mouth is cleaned and yellowing of the teeth is prevented. Miswak, made of an olive tree, is a means of cleansing my mouth and the prophets before me” (Haysemi, Majmauz-Zawaid, 2:100); “Four things are sunnah of the prophets: modesty (haya), the use of incense, marriage (nikah) and the use of miswak” (Tirmidhi, Nikah 1).
Islam also encourages rinsing the nose (istinshaq) and gives it the same importance as cleansing the mouth. In fact, istishak is the cleanliness of the nasal cavity. It is performed by drawing water into the nose and blowing it out, thereby bringing out the harmful substances that have accumulated in the nose, as well as cleaning the hairs in the nose.
Natural cleanliness and hygiene of the body In order to fully maintain the cleanliness of the body, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) established certain rules for a healthy lifestyle.He called these rules with "natural purification" and commanded us to follow them.
It is known that the adequate prophet about natural purity and body hygiene said: "Five things make up human nature and the following five things are natural manifestations of human nature: to make circumcision, shave the pubic hair, cut your nails, shave under the mouse and lock the mustache" (Bukhari, Libas 63). Modern medicine only now explains us the importance of these things.
- If you do not cut the nails, the many microbes and dirt are accumulated under them. There are many viruses whose carrier are dirty nails and which as a result lead to such diseases as diarrhea, intestinal inflammation, eye inflammation, infection with intestinal wand, etc.
- Circumcision also has great benefit to human health. Circumcision protects a person from fat discharges, in addition, in the extreme flesh under the skin, a microclimate favorable for microbes is formed, cutting off the extreme flesh, we deprive the microbes of the place of breeding and development. Clean clothing
The principle of environmental cleanliness in Islam does also require a person to clean his clothing clean. Cleanliness of the premises and territory
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) paid great attention to the cleanliness of the house and said: “Allah is beautiful and loves beauty, Allah is generous and loves the generous, Allah is generous and loves the generous, Allah is pure and loves the clean. So clean around the houses. ” (Tirmidhi, Adab 41).
In his saying, the Messenger of Allah calls on us to keep the yard and the area around the house clean so that there is no garbage or uncollected garbage.
Islam tells us to clean houses and surrounding areas, considering, first of all, the health of society. If we are talking about cleaning the premises and the surrounding area, then we mean not only houses and courtyards, but also streets, mosques, gathering places, as well as other public places.
Islam requires keeping the entire surface of the Earth clean and not polluting the environment. Particular attention should be paid to those places where the rites of worship are performed, because if there is any kind of dirt, the prayer performed in this place will not be counted.
The topic of cleanliness of the premises and territory also includes the choice of a place of residence, whether it be a house or a tent or other housing. Righteous ancestors advised when choosing a place to live or building a house to take into account the following criteria:
- It should not be a place or area where certain diseases are common.
- The place should not be damp, devoid of sunlight and fresh air.
- It should not be somewhere in the lowlands where heavy odors and harmful gases accumulate.
- It is also undesirable that it be too high a place, exposed to strong winds.
- The house itself, as well as its doors and windows, must be of good quality so that harmful insects, cold and dust that carry microbes harmful to health do not enter the house.
As it is said in the verse “they created every living thing from water” (Holy Quran, 21:30), water is the basis of life. Therefore, to protect water from pollution means to comprehensively protect your life. Many injunctions of Islam command people to conserve water and not pollute it.
From all that has been said, it follows that the rules established by Islam regarding cleanliness are a guarantee of a safe and healthy life for a person. It is impossible to express in words how much we today need to observe these rules established by Islam.
Especially in our age, when the degree of pollution of nature, the world's oceans and the atmosphere has reached a critical point, so if decisive and effective measures are not taken, then an ecological disaster is not far off.The ecological wisdom of Islamic rules deserves worldwide learning and promotion, especially among young people.
